Memory Of A Landscape
Alexandru Poteca's work originate in the concept that man’s first contact with the surroundings is by touch and that the visual perceptions are determined, to a significant extent, by the memory of tactile experiences.
The collage technique facilitates the access to the surface’s multisensory and conceptual experience: bidimensional image, trying to intercept nature as phenomenon experienced by the human being with all its senses and nature as artefact – landscape – one of the freestanding genres of the European art.
The matte colour applied over organic matter – acts as turntable between a map/cast-like image of the nature and a screen-like image, close to the idea of “landscape”, which conceals spatial and affective dimensions.
